Plane Picnic!

April 7th, 2010

You are cordially invited to join us for a plane picnic on Saturday, April 24 • 10 am - 4 pm at our new facility at the Anoka Airport, Key Air location.

Come and enjoy the free day long barbecue, aircraft displays, flyovers, and war birds. This is an open house event for Malibu Aerospace, Key Air and several other aviation businesses. Dale Klapmeier (co-founder of Cirrus Design) will be speaking at the event as well.  http://www.fmfsim.com/picnic.html

We will have our FADEC Malibu on display in the hangar along with other products that we offer.  If you haven’t been to our new facility, now is a great time to come and check it out!  Bring your family and friends for a day of fun in Minnesota!

If you would like to make a weekend out this event, please contact me and I would be more than happy to set up lodging and car rental for you.  It would also be helpful if you could let me know if you are coming or at least thinking about it so we can save you a prime parking spot.

We would love to fill up the ramp with a bunch of PA-46 Aircraft!  Hope to see you there!  Let me know if you have any questions regarding this event.

The Plane Picnic will be held at:

The beauty of a large hangar.

April 1st, 2010

There are so many perks from leasing space from Key Air.  One of them include having such a large hangar.  Not only does the hangar hold as many PA-46 airplanes as we wish, but it also the protective home to other aircraft on the field.

It’s fun to walk around and see some of the other aircraft that share the space with us.  When I walk outside of our office to the hanger, I just never know what I might see.

Openings in April and May!

March 29th, 2010

Spring has arrived, aaahh.  It’s so nice to see the grass again, hear the birds and of course witness the number of airplanes taking off and landing increase as each day goes by.  It’s definitely Spring in Minnesota!

As the seasons are changing, we are experiencing more phone calls from customers and fellow pilots.  It’s been nice to reconnect after the long cold winter.  It seems as though everyone is ready to start flying some more!

As you are planning for the summer months and need to have some things checked out on your plane, know that we are here to help.  We have plenty of availability over the next two months if you would like to bring your aircraft in.  Maybe it’s time to get that cooling mod that you always wanted.  Now is the perfect time to have it installed!

Finally, save the date!  Saturday, April 24 2010.  Key Air and its tenant’s (including Malibu Aerospace) will be hosting a Spring Picnic from 10 am – 4 pm.  If you are looking for a little day/weekend trip, we would love to see you in Minneapolis.  All the snow will be gone by then, I promise!  Mark your calendars now and more details to come!

Please feel free to contact us with questions or if you want to set up a time to come in.

Over the pond!

February 26th, 2010

I thought I would post a quick message about Chad’s newest adventure.  After an extensive pre-buy/annual on a customer’s aircraft, Chad and another pilot left for London today to deliver the aircraft.  Chad has always wanted to do a Transatlantic flight and he jumped at this opportunity.

The plane took off around 7:30 am this morning and he should be in Newfoundland by the end of the day.  Chad’s itinerary includes stops in NY, Newfoundland (overnight), Greenland, Iceland (overnight), Norway, Denmark & England.  Chad is due back to Minnesota sometime next week.  I know that he would love to stay for awhile and see the sites, as he has never been to Europe.

As I watched Chad taxi away, I felt his excitement for the journey.  Chad always talks about how much fun it would be to fly to so many different destinations, outside of the continental United States.  I think that this will definitely give him a good taste of what goes into the planning and preparation for a flight like this.  I am sure that he will be willing to do it again!

I know that many of our customers have been to various places in their PA-46’s.  I would love to hear about any great trips that you have taken in your plane.  Please feel free to share!

Key Air Twin Cities

January 22nd, 2010

Malibu Aerospace moved the Anoka County Airport (KANE) in September, 2009.  This is a new 70,000 sq.ft. full service FBO facility operated by Key Air.  The hangar space is bright, clean and stunning!  Almost every customer who has walked into the hangar for the first time said, “WOW!”

Besides moving into a larger hanger, we also moved into a new office space.  The office area encourages employee communication and collaboration with an open layout.  The office is also connected to the hangar area, allowing easy access for everyone.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our new facility this year!  If you are looking for a place to fly to or need to come in for an annual or general maintenance, we will be happy to serve you.  Come check us out!

MMOPA Convention 2008

September 22nd, 2008

Malibu Aerospace
Be sure to stop by our booth at the 2008 MMOPA convention in Dallas this week.  We will have a drawing to win a cooling mod for your Malibu or Mirage, or if you have a JetProp or Meridian, you can win a turbine compressor wash kit!  Also, we will have the latest information on the status of the FADEC Malibu and Mirage engine project, as well as other projects that we are working on, so we hope to see you there.
